Jamie Leigh Romano entered this world like most children. She had no complications, no signs of illness or disease. Being the youngest of three she completed our family. Everything was going great for 13 months. Then on September 28, 2000 my wife and I had the worst doctors visit you can ever imagine. We had taken Jamie in to see the doctor because she started to look a little jaundice. After eight hours of blood tests they told us to go directly to Children’s Hospital, Jamie had Leukemia. I knew nothing about Children’s Hospital at that time. I didn’t even know how to get there. For the next six months though this became our second home. We spent our days at the clinic, and many nights on the Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant Wards. Through all of this we saw first hand the commitment Children’s Hospital has for its many patients. This is what this race is for. To help these great people with their commitment to help others, while finding a cure to this deadly disease. Jamie is a living testimony to their efforts. We would all like to thank you in advance, for Jamie, and all those little kids who have had to, or might have to, spend time at Children’s Hospital, in a fight for their lives.
